wife of jackie,mother of carol,john,jaqualine and gran and great gran
betty died of organ failure due to cancer.
betty was a warm generous woman ,and was loved by all her family and friends who knew her.she had a heart attack six months ago and became very ill afterwards,she was then diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas.this was heart breaking for all who loved betty especially her husband jackie whom has been married to betty for 49 years.but betty being betty put a brave face on and carried on as normal.she loved to shop in near by sunderland with her close friend margaret on a wednesday morning,and did so for as long as she could including between chemotherapy sessions. for all betty loved to shop it was never for her self and always for her grandchildren and great grandchildren that was betty,she touched people with her humour always up for a laugh and a chat.and would give anyone her last.she also made the worlds best curry and every one on the estate got a bowl when she did.this last month though betty became really poorly and it breaks my heart that she lost her battle on the way to st claires hospital with her husband and daughter carol by her side on 24/4/08.she will be a huge miss to us all r.i.p darl xxxxxxxx

Betty Beattie was unique! A diamond, that lit up the lives of everyone she met.Betty was like a second mother to me, feeding me up on her curry's and her big pan of chips!!! I,v still got the scar from the hot water bottle that she would tuck me up with when i came back to her house, drunk and in need of hug! Well what can I say, what a great service, summed you up a treat, I had a couple of giggles. You had an amazing sense of humour and were one of the most straight talking people I've ever knew. I was just sitting thinking of the things you said to me when I ran away from your house, just coz I wanted to wear my pinafore and you said I had to keep it for the party at the Hackle! Well the best thing was that you told me off for running away and then I still got a hug and a kiss as well. Thanks for all the laughs and all of the love you have given over the years. You will be a bug miss. Lots Of Love Emma xxx.

FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND
ONE NIGHT A MAN HAD A DREAM, HE DREAMED HE WAS WALKING ALONG THE BEACH WITH THE LORD. ACROSS THE SKY FLASHED SCENES FROM HIS LIFE. FOR EACH SCENE, HE NOTICED TWO SETS OF FOOT PRINTS IN THE SAND: ONE BELONGED TO HIM AND THE OTHER TO THE LORD. WHEN THE LAST SCENE OF HIS LIFE FLASHED BEFORE HIM, HE LOOKED BACK AT THE FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND. HE NOTICED THAT MANY TIMES ALONG THE PATH OF HIS LIFE THERE WAS ONLY ONE SET OF FOOTPRINTS, HE ALSO NOTICED THAT IT HAPPENED AT THE VERY LOWEST AND SADDEST TIMES IN HIS LIFE. THIS REALLY BOTHERED HIMAND HE QUESTIONED THE LORD ABOUT IT. 'LORD, YOU SAID THAT ONCE I DECIDED TO FOLLOW YOU, YOU'D WALK WITH ME ALL THE WAY, BUT I HAVE NOTICED THAT DURING THE MOST TROUBLESOME TIMES IN MY LIFE THERE WAS ONLY ONE SET OF FOOTPRINTS, I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY, WHEN I NEEDED YOU MOST, YOU WOULD LEAVE 'ME: ' THE LORD REPLIED, 'MY PRECIOUS, PRECIOUS CHILD, I LOVE YOU AND WOULD NEVER LEAVE YOU. DURING YOUR TIMES OF TRIAL AND SUFFERING, WHEN YOU SAW ONLY ONE SET OF FOOTPRINTS, IT WAS I THAT CARRIED YOU'.
